This reflection explores the unjust impact of zero-tolerance school discipline policies on racialized and marginalized youth. It reflects my growing commitment to trauma-informed, relational, and equitable Child and Youth Care practice, as well as my ability to critically examine systems that shape young people’s experiences.

This reflection highlights my early development as an emerging Child and Youth Care practitioner. It explores my beliefs, values, boundaries, self-awareness, and understanding of equity, diversity, and respectful practice across different groups and environments. Including this piece shows the beginning of my reflective growth in the program.

This case study and accompanying token economy system demonstrate my ability to design a practical, strengths-based intervention for a child with behavioural, learning, and social challenges. I used the child’s interests to create an engaging, individualized support tool that encourages positive behaviour, participation, and skill development.

This activity index highlights my ability to create engaging, therapeutic, and developmentally appropriate activities for children and youth. Each activity was designed with clear objectives, therapeutic value, adaptations, and debrief questions, showing my growing confidence in purposeful program planning.
