PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
My professional experience has helped shape my understanding of Child and Youth Care in meaningful and practical ways. Through school-based support roles, behavioural work, and direct experience with children and youth, I have developed a deeper understanding of relationship-based support, emotional regulation, behaviour intervention, safety, and the importance of adapting care to meet each child’s needs.

My experience with the Toronto District School Board has been a significant part of my development as an emerging Child and Youth Care practitioner. In school-based settings, I supported children and youth through structured activities, outdoor play, classroom routines, individualized engagement, and community outings. These experiences reinforced the importance of flexibility, emotional safety, inclusion, and relationship-based support while working with students with behavioural, developmental, emotional, and academic needs.

Before and After Care
My extensive experience in Calgary significantly strengthened my ability to effectively support children in structured group environments through relationship-based and highly engaging practice. These invaluable moments reflect the paramount importance of creating safe, inclusive, and truly interactive spaces where children feel genuinely comfortable participating, connecting with their peers, and being an integral part of a supportive group. Through various circle activities, meaningful classroom engagement, and enriching outdoor play, I consistently continued building my skills in effective communication, group facilitation, emotional support, and child-centred practice.
One of the highlights of this experience was making connections and boosting confidence through outdoor activities with the kids. It was awesome getting to know their families and being part of their daily lives. Support didn’t just stop at school; I also drove the bus that took them to and from home every day, as well as met with their parents once every month.

ABA TORONTO
As an RBT therapist in training, I supported the implementation of treatment plans, behavioural data collection, and skill-building activities under supervision. This experience strengthened my understanding of individualized support, behaviour observation, and the importance of balancing structure with compassionate, person-centred care.
